Drew & Jimmy

As disappointing as game four of the 2004 World Series was, it was even more disappointing being there to see my team lose.

However, I never realized until today that I caught Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon making out on the field after the celebration had begun. They're kind hard to make out (no pun intended), but if you zoom in you can tell it's them.

They were there filming the movie Fever Pitch, which I have never seen, and probably never will.

Check out the picture on Flickr.

Linksys Sucks

I'm taking my turn in the "bitch about company X" conversation. I am choosing Linksys. I own a Linksys 802.11g bridge which worked pretty well for a while. Then the traffic on the network attached to it started dogging. After some testing I narrowed it down to the bridge. Nothing I did fixed it. So I decided to call Linksys and see if they would issue an RMA; which after all the standard troubleshooting, they did.

Well, I waited for my replacement unit to arrive and after it did, I discovered it was a refurb. I guess that's all right, as long as it works. Well, it didn't; not at all.

At this point, I wasn't willing to spend any more time on the problem; so I decided to just buy a new unit (which works fine). I called Linksys back and told them the replacement didn't work and that I want them to pay to have the defective unit shipped back. They said that would be fine, but I would have to get another RMA to have ANOTHER refurb shipped out to me. I said, no I don't want another unit, I already bought a replacement. They informed me that they would not pay to have the bad unit THEY sent me shipped back unless I got another unit shipped out. WHAT!?

I wouldn't have cared, but then I would have to pay to send MY old unit back to replace the second unit they were going to send me. And the whole point was that I was done with the matter and I didn't want to pay to ship a defective replacement unit back. Anyone else think this is nuts?

I argued with two people for about 40 minutes, and finally the last guy said he would have to schedule a call back tomorrow.

This makes NO sense to me. Why would they want to ship me ANOTHER unit (at their expense) which I don't even want!? I will never buy another Linksys product. Their customer service has always sucked, and now I've had more than a few problems with their products.

Too Much Stuff

I'm sure like a lot of people that use del.icio.us, I have a "read" tag. Every time I run across an interesting post/article/website I don't have time to read I bookmark it with said tag.

Problem is, I rarely go back and read the stuff! I have enough trouble keeping up with things I run in to on a daily basis without going back and reading ANOTHER list of stuff. I have the same problem with blog posts I "clip" in NewsGator Online.

Who else has this problem, and how do you deal with it?

Palmeiro

First, I know I've been away for a while. I still plan on coming back; I just fell off the blogging wagon!

Rafael Palmeiro. I cannot believe this guy. If he were not one of the very few major leaguers who swore in front of the world that he had never and would never touch the juice, I would not be so upset. Where does he get the balls to say the stuff he did to the public and then make no effort to explain himself after his suspension?

If he "accidentally" took the stuff, then fine! But I think the fans deserve a good explanation. I have zero respect for the man. I have more respect for Mr. McGwire as he at least did not lie (directly).

One of the great things about baseball is that the players are generally respectable people. This guy gives the game a black eye.
